The Harman Science Library

The Harman Science Library, named for Dr. Avraham Harman, a former president of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is the central library serving the Faculty of Science. It is located on the Edmond J. Safra Campus at Givat Ram.

The library's collection consists of more than 300,000 items in physics, chemistry, life sciences, earth sciences and science teaching. The collection includes textbooks, monographs, reference books, periodicals and theses. The expanding digital collection includes updated databases, electronic journals, e-books, CDs and DVDs.

The library serves the Science Faculty's teaching staff, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students.
The new Berel and Agnes Ginges Information Center on the main floor of the library incorporates open study areas, smaller study rooms, a computer classroom, garden cafe and more.
The library has computer workstations, printers, a scanner, copy-machines and wireless network access in the entire building. For information and orientation, consult the library map.

Library services include:

Circulation: The circulation desk is located on the entrance level. Circulation services are available for the Hebrew University community, students and staff from other universities in accordance with library regulations. Staff at the circulation desk can provide general instruction using the library catalog.

Reference and instruction services: These are located on level -1 in the new Information Center. . Staff provide instruction in use of databases, e-journals and advanced catalog searching. During the academic year, academic staff and teachers are welcome to schedule instructional sessions for courses, research groups and individuals, on library premises or in university departments.

Interlibrary loan and photocopy service from Israeli libraries and abroad: To request an article or a book please fill an online form. This service is available for a small handling fee to anyone holding a valid reader's card.
