Circulation services

Students, faculty and staff members of the Faculty of Sciences may borrow up to 10 textbooks and 20 research books a a time. Guest readers may borrow up to 4 research books.

Opening a reader's card

Readers eligible for a library card should present to the circulation desk with one of the following certificates:
  • » A valid student card
  • » Tuition receipt
  • » Registration form
  • » Letter of Department affiliation
  • » Hebrew University staff card
  • » Hebrew University salary slip
  • » Temporary employment certificate
  • » Guest card

  • Personal information may only be updated in-person at the circulation desk

Loan period

  • » Items marked with red tape do not circulate and can be used only in the library
  • » Textbooks can be borrowed for 3 days
  • » Research books can be borrowed for 7 days
  • » Cellular modems For IDF reservists during active reserve duty
  • » iPads are available for loan up to a week
  • » Laptops can be borrowed for 1 day (in library only)
  • » Calculators can be borrowed for 1 day (in library only)
  • » Electronic Dictionaries can be borrowed for 1 day
  • » Earphones, mice, keyboards and adaptors may be loaned for 1 day (in-library use only)

Book renewal

You are responsible for returning books on time. Please check your library card for due dates.
Loans are renewed automatically by the library. If we require you to return a book, an email message will be sent to your university email ( The fine for returning a book after the date stated in the message is 10 nis per day.

Book returns

Return books at the circulation desk. When the library is closed, please return books at the at the book drop located at the Library entrance. Books should be returned by closing.

Ordering books

Please place your book orders via the web catalog. When your book arrives, we will send an email to your university account. Please note, a requested book will only be held for you until the date included in the notification email.
